Now they have done it! Since 25nd May, the german government changed a law against computer criminality. Now it’s illegal to distribute, build and use software which could be used for attacking computers.hacker_penalties.gif

This means also that the evil tools like "nmap" will be removed from every linux distribution e.g. Ubuntu, SuSE … And what about firefox ? It could be a computer attack, when you access a webserver, without asking the webmaster. Im very curious about the new distribution releases … to see what have been removed from their repos.

In short:

If you own any hacker tool which "aim is to commit a crime"…

  • nmap
  • metasploit
  • any penetration testing tool in general
  • port scanners
  • network analyzers?
  • debugger tools? gdb, …
  • browser?
  • network tools? ping (flood) ? tracert :)

… you’re signing up for one year in jail or a hefty fine. For the german folks:
